Andy Lifschutz was born December 16th, 1981 in Boring, Oregon. Upon graduating high school Andy moved to Santa Barbara, California then Bologna, Italy for a spell before eventually settling on the mystical Greek isle of Santorini, spending the summers working then traveling in the off season. Andy would like to return to the road again soon, but for the time being is happy to travel through and for his work. His professional journey has included explorations in the world of theater, film, carpentry and winemaking. Andy's exploration into metalwork began in Brooklyn with renowned designer Kristin Hanson, continued in Portland with Gunnar Adamovics and San Miguel De Allende with William Thomas King where he graduated from the Sterling Quest School of Jewelry Design and Creation in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. As his work progresses, Andy discovers new ways to combine his artisan style with raw elements such as reclaimed metals, wood and bone. Comprised of these materials, the jewelry creates an appeal not solely focused on aesthetic value, but based heavily upon the spirit of powerful organic forms. From multi-functional adornments to fashionable and thought provoking ornamentation, Andy creates pieces that symbolize the force that is the natural world while speaking of a balance between old and new.
